“Why you better run the Big House Big Heart 5k with Me” or Captain Aubrey Dishes Out Some Motivation
(Note to reader: Aubrey Williams, one of Avalon’s Property Managers, is also Captain of Team Avalon, the nearly twenty folks running in the Big House Big Heart 5K/1Mile Fun Run on September 30th. She’s not making us salute…yet. But she does insist on sprint drills before lunch.)
We’ve put together a team to run the Big House Big Heart 5K in support of Avalon Housing. As we look forward to completing a 5K, we recognize that this time the accomplishment is greater because it’s in support of Avalon Housing.
There’s nothing better than getting to say “welcome home” to someone after they’ve been on the streets for any length of time. It’s definitely the best part of what I do.
Housing the woman who has been on the streets for over 30 years, the man who is fighting cancer while sleeping in an abandoned garage, or the single mom with two kids who puts in 40 hours of hard work every week, but can’t find an affordable place to live - makes it all worthwhile.
Each of these individuals moved into Avalon Housing and we Property Managers have the pleasure of working with them on a daily basis to ensure they’re living in a stable, high quality, and affordable home.
Come put one foot in front of the other and help provide a survival service to each of these folks and the many more we will continue to house.
