The best painting party in town!

January 27th, 2009

Many, many thanks the all the volunteers that joined us on a very snowy Saturday to prep, paint and clean at our Broadway house, as we get it ready for new residents. The house is a joint project with Safehouse, and will become home to 4 women and children starting new lives.

Broadway Volunteer group The best painting team in town!

Our group of vounteers was organized by Jeff Muoio of HomeAid Michigan, a non-profit formed through the Homebuilder’s Association, and included a group of students from the University of Michigan, Homebuilder’s Association members and D&G Painting.

Tony Tony, D&G Painting, gives a lesson on cutting in

Tony, from D&G Painting, was a huge assest on the day - giving lessons to inexperienced painters and organizing the painting schedule. His expertise certainly meant we got a lot more done… and D&G were even kind enough to bring doughnuts and bagels for breakfast!

Dino  Dino, our contractor, carefully tapes around one of the many gorgeous windows

We also had the expertise of Dino, our contractor, who made sure we treated the hardwood floors, original woodwork and stained glass windows with proper care. Also on the breakfast theme, we were treated to his wife’s excellent home baked biscotti and banana cake!

Kitchen The upstairs kitchen, almost finished

The house is a lovely old building, with the original woodwork, hardwood floors and lots of light. It will be a beautiful home for the residents, especially now with a fresh paint job throughout!

Taping closets     Jeff

The many closets will no doubt be loved by the residents, although made for some small workspaces on the day!

Again, many thanks to all the volunteers who joined us and worked so hard. We hope to work with you all again in the future!
