Coffee for a Cause!
Perk up with locally roasted, organic, fair trade coffee.
Avalon Housing is pleased to share Avalon Home Brew, a specialty coffee produced by local micro-roaster, John Roos of Roosroast Free Speech Coffee.
Thanks to Roosroast, proceeds from each sale of Avalon Home Brew go directly to support the work of Avalon Housing.
Avalon Home Brew is roasted on-demand in small batches and packed in bags hand-printed with an original linolium block designed especially in honor of Avalon Housing. It’s a true luxury at a great price of only $16 per 1 lb. bag (that’s a full 1 lb. bag, not a 12 ounce bag.)
We can take your orders via email or by phone at 734-663-5858 ext. 12. (Cash or checks only, please.)
More Helpful Events
Looking for ideas that are helpful AND fun to start 2008 off on the right foot? Check out the six options below. Don’t worry about jotting them down. Click herefor a downloadable version to peruse at your leisure!
1. Raise the Roofwith a House Party for Avalon. It’s a great excuse to invite friends and family to your home for dinner, cocktails, coffee or just dessert. You provide the refreshments and we’ll provide the materials (invitations, flyers, and a speaker or two.) Bring in some entertainment and make it a real party. We even have suggestions if you’d like. Pass the hat, charge admission, or ask guests to log onto our site to make a secure donation online.
2. Adopt a Property and help us cut costs of upkeep and maintenance on our older sites. We take pride in preserving and rehabilitating historic properties, as well as making sure our tenants have homes they can be proud of. But that preservation comes with a price. If you have ever owned an older home you know what we’re talking about. Adoption can include volunteering for seasonal work or special projects. It may also involve raising funds for a big need - like a new roof. So gather up a group of friends, coworkers, neighbors, family members or people from your church of congregation and take on an Avalon site today.
3. Pour Some Coffee at your place of worship and introduce your congregation to a proven solution to homelessness (hing: supportive housing). Invite members to meet folks from Avalon, offer up some coffee or tea and baked goods, and maybe even set out a basket for donations. We’ll send a speaker and provide materials if you like. If your congregation has time for a presentation during the worship service, we’d be delighted to participate.
4. Present the Problem of Homelessness - and the solution - by introducing Avalon Housing to your class, your business partners, your club, or your congregation. We’re happy to tell the Avalon Story - and the good news about ending homelessness - to any group, anywhere, anytime. You set it up and we’ll be there.
5. Change the Venue, temporarily, of your book club or business meeting. In exchange for letting us show you around and telling you a bit about Avalon and our mission, we’ll offer you great accommodations for your group. Our Carrot Way Community Center can comfortably seat up to 30 people and has a fully functioning kitchen. We’ll even fire up the coffee pot for you and provide all the fixings (maybe even a treat or two). Call us for scheduling availability.
6. Call on Us. We love what we do. We can talk all day (and night) about it. We’d also love to hear your ideas. Give us a ring, drop a line, or stop by our main office any time.
