Donate Goods
Your donation of basic necessities eases the burden for individuals and families coming out of homelessness.
To organize a donation drive, contact Shannon Canniff at scanniff@avalonhousing.org.
IRA Distributions
You can support Avalon by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA, which provides a tax and penalty-free donation.
Please consult your financial advisor to learn more about when and how both you and Avalon Housing can benefit from an IRA distribution.
Planned Giving
A bequest, or planned gift, is a gift from your estate—a transfer of cash, securities, or other property – made through your estate plan. You can make a planned gift to Avalon Housing by including language in your will or living trust that leaves a portion of your estate to Avalon.
The Jane Barney Legacy Society – named for the first president of Avalon’s Board of Trustees – honors those who provide support for Avalon through a planned gift. Through the Legacy Society, you join others who have taken a formal step to help ensure that Avalon’s work is sustained in the future.
If you have included Avalon in your estate plans, please let us know. We would like to thank you for your generosity. We also want to ensure that we understand the purpose of your gift and – with your express permission—recognize you as a member of our Legacy Society.
For more information about making a planned gift to Avalon, or to notify us of your bequest intention, please contact Scott Ellis at sellis[at]avalonhousing.org.
“Being in uncharted territory did not frighten or deter Jane, and she helped instill in all of us a sense of courage, openness, and a long-term view. Her humility, sense of justice and her love for all people helped instill these values in Avalon’s culture.”
Carole McCabe, Avalon Housing founder and former Executive Director
