May 14, 2021 | BLOG, WORKING AT AVALON

BY JOHNNIE B. TINGLE

This month Johnnie B Tingle, Avalon Wellness Committee Member and Property Manager, talked to Mindy Holmes about working at Avalon.

How long have you been working at Avalon Housing? About two and half years.

Can you share what a normal work day looks like for you?
I usually arrive at 4:00pm. I read my emails, read through Slack and then spend the majority of the day interacting with tenants.

What’s the best thing about working at Avalon Housing?
The relationships I’ve built with coworkers and tenants.

What keeps you motivated (at Miller Manor)? What keeps me motivated is wanting to provide the best services for the tenants, because the tenants deserve it.

What do you do for fun?  I like to read, do gardening and cook.

How do you feel about the next phase of Covid-19?
I am hopeful that more people will get vaccinated.  I think that people are being hit really hard from the social isolation (of COVID).

Fun fact about Mindy Holmes: I play the piano!

What advice would you give to a newly hired Residential Support Specialist?
Have some patience, take care of yourself and stay focused with setting boundaries.
