ANN ARBOR – Aubrey Patiño will be leaving non-profit Avalon Housing later this year.
Patiño, who has been with the organization for 18 years and has served as Avalon’s Executive Director for the past five years, is working with Avalon’s leadership team over the next several months to prepare Avalon for her departure.
Avalon’s Board of Trustees has formed a hiring committee and has launched the search for a new Executive Director in partnership with executive search firm Koya Partners.
During Patiño’s tenure, Avalon Housing has become a leading local and national supportive housing non-profit. Avalon has expanded the County’s supply of affordable housing and moved hundreds of people out of homelessness into stable homes. Patiño has directly and successfully advocated for increased local-, state- and national funding for supportive housing. In collaboration with Avalon’s peers, community partners and civic leaders, Patiño has worked to foster a more diverse, equitable and inclusive community for all our neighbors.
Avalon Board President Jeremy Lapedis said Patiño leaves Avalon with an exceptional legacy and has positioned the organization well for the future.
“Aubrey has been a remarkable leader,” Lapedis said. “Avalon has seen unprecedented growth and success under her direction, including the opening of Hickory Way in Ann Arbor and Hilltop View in Dexter, with four more housing developments in the pipeline. She has also worked to put in place an experienced and accomplished leadership team. Her team will ensure a smooth transition and seamless experience for our tenants, clients and partners.”
“Avalon Housing has been my professional home for more than two decades,” said Patiño. “I have had the great honor to walk alongside many of our neighbors as they moved into new homes over the years. It will be difficult for me to say goodbye to all the incredible people who make the Avalon community such a transformative place. We’ve accomplished great things together toward the pursuit of housing justice. Avalon has been, and will continue to be, a gift in this community. I’ll continue to work closely with the leadership team to ensure that our succession plan aligns with Avalon’s values of equity, community and excellence. We’ll also work to uphold the collective vision of the Avalon community.”
